Transparent plastics popular in skincare (like PET, PETG, AS/SAN, and PMMA/Acrylic) consist of polymer chains. These chains are highly sensitive to Ultraviolet (UV) light and heat. When your bottles are exposed to sunlight—or even strong LED store lighting—UV energy attacks the polymer structure, breaking the chains and creating free radicals. Once oxidized, these free radicals form “Chromophores” (color-bearing groups). This is the chemical culprit that turns your premium clear bottle into a cheap-looking, yellowish container.

The Hidden Risk: It’s Not Just About Looks

For high-clarity packaging, reliable manufacturers must add UV Absorbers or HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers) during the injection or blow molding process. Think of this as a permanent, built-in sunscreen for your bottle. It absorbs harmful UV energy before it can break the polymer chains, dramatically extending the “clear life” of the packaging.
2️⃣“Do You Apply Optical Brightening (Blue-Tinting)?”

- For Optical Crystal Clarity: You generally need 100% Virgin Material. Recycled materials (PCR) have already undergone heat history, making their polymer chains weaker and naturally prone to quicker yellowing.
- For Sustainability: If you choose PCR (Recycled) materials to meet eco-goals, ensure your supplier uses Color-Corrected PCR grades or darker colorways to mask the natural yellowing process.
